Dr. Chiapel specializes in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and treats a wide variety of patients of all ages. Besides the removal of wisdom teeth, the diagnosis and repair of oral/facial trauma, facial reconstructive surgeries, and the diagnosis and treatment of lesions, he has been placing dental implants for over 15 years, with an extensive experience in implantology, having treated thousands of St. Louis area dental implant patients.

Initially from St. Louis, Dr. Chiapel attended De Smet Jesuit High School. He then performed his undergraduate studies at Regis University in Denver, Colorado with degrees in Psychology, Sociology, and Biology, followed by obtaining his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Loyola University School of Dentistry in Chicago, IL. Dr. Chiapel furthered his training and education through a five-year intensive residency in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery with emphases in General Surgery, Emergency Medicine, Intensive Care Medicine, Pathology, and Anesthesiology at St. John’s Mercy Medical Center in St. Louis, MO. Dr. Chiapel has been fortunate to consistently receive “The Best of” award as recognized by his peers due to his consistent exceptional care. All patients that come to see Dr. Chiapel, with his extensive training in anesthesia, are afforded the ability to have an I.V. sedation or General Anesthesia, depending on the complexity of their treatment and their desired level of comfort.

Dr. Chiapel maintains full staff privileges at Barnes/Jewish Hospital and the Washington University School of Medicine where he works closely with and trains residents in the Department of Otolaryngology in the complete realm of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery including facial trauma and reconstruction. He is a member of The American Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons, the International Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons, the American College of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons, the Missouri Society of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons, the American Dental Association, and the Greater St. Louis Dental Society.

Dr. Chiapel has three incredible college-aged boys and enjoys spending time skiing, various sports, and hanging out with them. He is also a Commercial Pilot with a love of aviation shared by all of his boys.
